The petrol engined version of the recently launched Hyundai Grand i10 is now available with a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The 1.2 liter Kappa petrol engine which puts out of 83 PS of power and 115 Nm of torque remains unchanged. Hyundai has launched the Grand i10 Automatic in two variants, Sportz and Asta.
The Sportz variant is priced at Rs. 5.64 lakh ex-showroom Delhi, while the Asta variant is priced at Rs. 5.91 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. Hyundai dealers across India have begun accepting bookings for the automatic variants of the Grand i10. The first deliveries will happen in the next 10-15 days. Apart from the new automatic gearbox added, the Sportz and the Asta variants don’t see any changes in terms of features.
The car continues to be available with the 1.2 liter Kappa engine-5 speed manual transmission option. Hyundai now has three hatchbacks with automatic gearboxes: i10, Grand i10 and the i20. These cars, positioned at different price levels, cater to a wide range of automatic hatchback buyers.
Hyundai seems to have hit the bulls eye with the launch of the Grand i10. The car is easily the biggest success for the car maker in India this year. Over 21,000 cars have been sold in India within two months of the car’s launch. With demand mounting, Hyundai is even considering the expansion of capacity at its factory in Sriperumbudur, a suburb of Chennai. With the launch of the automatic version of the Grand i10, demand could further inch northwards. Hyundai is also developing a compact sedan version of the Grand i10 specifically for the Indian market. The Grand i10-based compact sedan could be launched next year.

Diesel automatic only later
Hyundai is said to be planning the launch of a diesel automatic variant of the Grand i10. If the launch happens as speculated, in the next couple of months or so, the Grand i10 diesel equipped with an automatic gearbox will be the first such hatchback to be sold in India.
