The Skoda Yeti facelift premiered at the Frankfurt Motor Show back in September and now production of the car has commenced at the brand’s Kvasiny plant in Czech Republic. The new Yeti facelift is being made alongside the refreshed 2014 Superb and is expected to reach showroom in Europe by January 2014 – pre-orders have already begun in October.
The revised Yeti looks more refined than the outgoing model and has adopted the now familiar Skoda front fascia with the corporate grille, a sportier front bumper and bi-xenon headlights with LED DRLs. The hood also looks more appealing, while at the back we notice slightly modified taillights and more prominent badging on the tailgate.
Skoda is offering two styling versions of the 2014 Yeti, one is destined for the city and the other one has an off-road look thanks to its black bumpers, side mouldings, underride guard and door sills which on the city version are painted in the same colour as the rest of the body. They have been named as the 2014 Skoda Yeti Outdoor and the 2014 Skoda Yeti Style respectively.
The 2014 Yeti is available with a choice of three petrol and four diesel engines, with output ranging from 105bhp in the 1.2 TSI to 170bhp in the 2.0 TDI. Depending on engine choice, front- or all-wheel-drive system is available, along with six-speed manual or six-and seven-speed DSG automatic transmission.
Skoda is confident that the Yeti Style, the city version, with features of urban crossover with a high ground clearance, a large boot and better road visibility will certainly gain popularity.
In India, we could expect the Yeti facelift to debut at the Auto Expo in February and go on sale by mid 2014. The Yeti falls in the D1 segment where it faces stiff competition from the Mahindra XUV500.
