Mercedes Benz India launches C-Class Edition C

German luxury car giant Mercedes Benz has put 10 million C-Class cars on roads internationally. To commemorate this event, the Indian wing of Mercedes Benz has launched the “Edition C”, a special edition version of the C-Class sedan that comes with a range of add-ons including an AMG body kit.



The Edition C variant of the C-Class has been priced at 39.16 lakh rupees, ex-showroom Mumbai. The car is available in C 220CDI guise, which means that it is powered by a 2.2 liter turbo diesel engine that outputs 170 Bhp-400 Nm. This engine is mated to a 7G-TRONIC 7 speed automatic gearbox, driving the rear wheels of the sedan.
A start-stop system comes as standard fitment on this variant. Claimed performance figures, with a 0-100 Kph sprint coming up in 8.1 seconds and a top speed of 231 Kph, are impressive for an entry level diesel luxury sedan.



The C-Class Edition C version brings the following features to the table:

• AMG body styling with front and rear apron and side sill panels
• Radiator grille with the centrally positioned star and fins in high-gloss black
• Black high-sheen finish 2-tone 17-inch 5-spoke light-alloy wheels
• “Edition C” badge on the wings with dark-tinted headlamps
• Chromed tailpipe trims
• Electric sunroof
• ARTICO / DINAMICA microfibre in black with two-tone contrasting top stitching for the seats
• Three-spoke multifunction sports steering wheel is crafted in Nappa leather
• DINAMICA microfibre-trimmed door centre panels
• Velour floor mats
•  1/3:2/3 folding rear seat backrests
• Ambiente light package
• 11.4 cm multifunctional colour display in the instrument cluster
• Navigation with latest maps

The C-Class model has been around from 1982, and was first introduced internationally as the Mercedes Benz 190 entry level luxury sedan. It wasn’t until 1993 though that Mercedes Benz introduced the C-Class moniker to its entry level sedan. The C-Class that’s sold in India is CKD assembled at Mercedes Benz’s Chakan factory, on the outskirts of Pune.
